This document reflects a consensus by community foundations in Canada about what constitutes a community foundation. It describes our characteristic strengths, roles, and way of working – while recognizing that because every community foundation is rooted in its particular environment, no two are identical. It also clarifies the criteria for membership in Community
Foundations of Canada (CFC) and the benefits community foundations derive from membership.
