  • Unleashing Youth Potential: Understanding & Growing Youth Participation in Philanthropy & Volunteerism

Oates, Barbara, National Consultant on Youth in Philanthropy
    Ottawa, 2004

This paper attempts to situate youth in philanthropy in the context of the organizational culture and practices of Canadian community foundations. It explores the challenges and opportunities presented by engaging young people in community foundations, based on the development of Vancouver Foundation’s Youth in Philanthropy program in British Columbia, and its dissemination elsewhere in Canada. It examines many of the questions that have arisen as the program was developed and has evolved, and that must continue to be considered as it expands.
