  This publication explores a sampling of the leadership development being utilized now in the nonprofit sector. It is designed as a second step to help inform grantmakers by highlighting 1) the importance of leadership in the nonprofit sector, 2) illustrate foundations that are practicing methods of leadership development 3) different approaches to developing leadership and investing in nonprofit capacity, 4) steps to advance the field of nonprofit leadership development. The appendix at the end of this resource highlights 40 grantmakers that already practice leadership development in various ways.
